Marl caves Zichen-Bolder

In Riemst, that white and pale-yellow limestone comes to the surface. And where it remains hidden under the ground, workers bring it up in large blocks of stone. That is how marl caves are created: 300 kilometres of cave passages in total. In Kanne and Zichen, you can still visit these underground mazes.

In the marl caves of Zichen-Bolder, you will find murals in charcoal, sculptures in marl sandstone, fossils from the Cretaceous sea, drawings and inscriptions. Psst… you'll also pass a real bat sanctuary and a little further along you will see how cave cheeses mature.
